Bright red stickers on certain alcoholic beverages might catch your eye the next time you visit a convenience store.

They're meant to remind clerks and customers that it's illegal to sell or give alcohol to minors, focusing on products designed to look like soft drinks or energy drinks.

Local teenagers with the Partnership for Substance-Free Youth spent several hours Saturday, doing the stickering.

"Ninety percent of people before the age of 21 are drinking alcohol, and with that comes a lot of additional risks both for brain development and habitual drinking, binge drinking," said RHA youth prevention specialist Ada Holt.

Eblen Short Stops partnered with the youth group to support the project.

The plan is to expand to more locations.
